Hi, I'm Raj.
I design software for people with demanding jobs who turn to a tool that makes them sharper at what they do.

The work I take on
Most of what's landed on my desk shares the same shape: high stakes, tight constraints, and no room to add complexity instead of removing it.
At Bank of America, I helped turn a support tool associates had stopped opening into an AI assistant designed for more than 30,000 of them on live calls. At Charles Schwab, I designed inside a process where regulation, not opinion, decided what the flow had to contain, for more than 50,000 advisors moving client accounts and assets.
At McKesson, I inherited a scheduler 90% of its users had abandoned, and had to find out why before I could fix anything. At mroads there was no design function yet, so I built Paññã from brand through product.
Well-crafted products look obvious in hindsight. My expertise is to identify what matters most and remove what doesn't.
Why I do this
I've been curious about how things work since I was a kid, and that never wore off. A good product experience would pull me into wondering what decisions had to happen behind the scenes to make it feel that way; a bad one, I couldn't leave alone either, and I'd start working out what I'd have done differently. Product design turned out to be the obvious place to put both habits to use, because it's the one discipline where a business need, a technical constraint and an actual human being all have to agree on something at once.
Some of what I've built has outlasted me. The desk phone I worked on at Cisco is still the one sitting in the offices of almost every company I have joined since. Some of the tools I built at Verizon are still running on their intranet today. Paññã is still running interviews years after I left. I would love for more of my work to end up the same way, still doing its job somewhere long after I have moved on.
Curiosity
Lately most of my curiosity goes to AI, less as a topic and more as a collaborator. It handles more of the lifting, so I spend more time on the parts that need judgment.
Outside work
Outside of work I spend time sim racing, traveling, and exploring national parks, usually the trails with nobody on them.

What the people I worked with say
-
Raj is the most data-driven designer I've ever worked with which translated to well-covered user journeys. This data-driven and customer-centric approach lead to stunningly simplified customer experiences for complex initiatives. Raj elevated myself as a product manager along with the entire team to build the best product experiences for customers.
Jacob Poterbin Sr Product Manager-Tech @ Amazon Robotics Worked with Raj at The Home Depot -
He always brought a sophisticated, nuanced approach to design problems and I could always trust that his analysis was well-considered and thorough. The other thing I appreciated about Raj was his taking the initiative to go beyond the immediate asks to outline higher solution needs.
Hugh Morrow Technical Project Manager III @ Los Alamos National Laboratory Worked with Raj at The Home Depot -
He delivered value to the team and organization from day one despite jumping into a new domain. He is a very strong and capable designer and UX lead. He helped shape all aspects of the product from high-level strategy to detailed design elements.
